Our Pharmacists

Tony BuchtaTony Buchta, R.Ph., MBA, Owner

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and from Capital University in 2000 with a Masters degree in Business Administration.  I completed an extensive compounding school in 1996 at the Professional Compounding Centers of America in Houston, Texas.  I am also a member of the Ohio State Pharmacist Association, the International Association of Compounding Pharmacists and past President of the Academy of Pharmacy of Central Ohio.  As a 2005 recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award and a member of the advisory panel to Elan Pharmaceuticals, I was a critical part of the ongoing development of Prialt.  Through my connections within the local and nationwide pharmaceutical community, I currently present at international conferences on multiple compounding topics. My ties to the community and my alma mater also provide me the opportunity to be involved in numerous research projects conducted through The Ohio State University.

I started Central Ohio Compounding Pharmacy to aid in solving complex problems for our patients. Through my past experience, I have found that the best way to achieve this goal is to listen to our patients and collaborate with the prescriber to compound the most effective medicines possible. By applying this relationship approach, we have been able to help a vast range of patients from children with allergies, to people needing hormone replacement, to hospice patients suffering from intolerable pain. I strive every day to bring my passion for helping people and knowledge of pharmacy to the patient; which ultimately has a positive impact on their life. I just want to make a difference in people’s lives.

Terry Otani, R.Ph.

I graduated from the Ohio State University College OfPharmacy in 1985.  I have worked in many different areas of pharmacy throughout my career.  I have worked in hospital, retail, home delivery, and home infusion settings before working in a compounding pharmacy.  Most of my career was spent in area of home delivery pharmacy, which is when I had my first contact with Central OhioCompounding Pharmacy.  We developed a business relationship with them in 2004 and I became more familiar with their business.  In the spring of 2011 after leaving the home infusion business I came to work for Central Ohio Compounding Pharmacy as a full-time staff pharmacist.  In the process I became certified Technique Compounding Course at the Professional Compounding Centers of America in Houston, Texas in 2012.  The experience here has exceeded all of my expectations.  The personal satisfaction that we get from helping our patients on a daily basis is so rewarding.  We specialize in solving problems for our patients by working with their physicians to find a medication and dosage form that meets their specific needs.  That is what is so gratifying about working in a compounding pharmacy, we solve problems.  I see our mission as beginning when our patients needs can no longer be met by traditional pharmacy.

Beth Kostelnick, R.Ph., Pharm.D
I graduated from Ohio University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and from The Ohio State University in 2008 with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.  I pursued a job at Central Ohio Compounding Pharmacy (COCP) during my first year of pharmacy school.  I thought that at COCP I would be able to utilize my chemistry background while cultivating my interest in pharmaceutical  care.  I worked at COCP for 3 years as an intern, and am currently in my 4th year here as a pharmacist.  I have completed the Aseptic Technique Compounding Course at the Professional Compounding Centers of America in Houston, Texas in 2010, and I have a focus in compounding sterile formulations.  I am also interested in pediatric compounding, and have a particular interest in finding dosage forms that are palatable and manageable for pediatric patients and their parents.  Helping patients who cannot get adequate treatment via manufactured medications is a passion of mine, and central to our mission here at COCP.  Additionally, I began the immunization program at COCP, and I am trying to find ways to expand the program and vaccinate more patients, specifically seniors in central Ohio.  I am proud to be a part of such an innovative company, and excited to grow with COCP to help more patients obtain the treatment they need to live healthy, happy lives.
